Background
Three different forms of human pancreatic procarboxypeptidase A have been isolated. The A1 and A2 forms are monomeric proteins with different biochemical properties. Carboxypeptidase A2 is a pancreatic peptidase that comes from the precursor form of inactive procarboxypeptidase. This enzyme cleaves the C-terminal of protein with aromatic side chains or branced hydrocardon chains.
