| Applications | CHI3L1 antibody has been tested by ELISA and Western blot analysis to assure specificity and reactivity. Since application varies, however, each investigation should be titrated by the reagent to obtain optimal results. Recommended dilution range for Western blot analysis is 1:250 ~ 1500. Recommended starting dilution is 1:250. |
| Protein Background | Chitinases catalyze the hydrolysis of chitin, which is an abundant glycopolymer found in insect exoskeletons and fungal cell walls. The glycoside hydrolase 18 family of chitinases includes 8 human family members. CHI3L1 is a glycoprotein member of the glycosyl hydrolase 18 family. CHI3L1 lacks chitinase activity and is secreted by activated macrophages, chondrocytes, neutrophils and synovial cells. CHI3L1 is thought to play a role in the process of inflammation and tissue remodeling. |
