Background |
Leptin is a 16-kDa protein hormone that plays a key role in regulating energy intake and expenditure, including appetite/hunger, metabolism, as well as behavior. It is one of the most important adipose-derived hormones.Leptin functions by binding to the leptin receptor. The Ob(Lep) gene (Ob for obese, Lep for leptin) is located on chromosome 7 in humans. |
Assay principle |
This Mouse Leptin ELISA Kit was based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay technology. Mouse Leptin specific antibodies were precoated onto 96-well plates. The Mouse Leptin specific detection antibodies were biotinylated. The test samples and biotinylated detection antibodies were added to the wells subsequently and then followed by washing the plate. Streptavidin-HRP was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with wash buffer. HRP substrate TMB was used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow color is proportional to the Mouse Leptin amount of sample captured in plate. |
