Fibroblast growth factor receptor 2, also known as CD332, is a member of the fibroblast growth factor receptor subfamily belonging to the Tyr protein kinase family, which are related proteins that are involved in important processes such as cell division, regulation of cell growth and maturation, formation of blood vessels, wound healing, and embryonic development. CD332 plays an important role in signaling certain immature cells in the developing embryo to become bone cells in the head, hands, feet, and other tissues. Mutations of CD332 are associated with numerous medical conditions that include abnormal bone development (e.g. craniosynostosis syndromes) and cancer.
