Inducible co-stimulator ligand (ICOSLG), also known as B7-H2, is a member of the B7 family of co-stimulatory molecules related to B7-1 and B7-2. It is a transmembrane glycoprotein which is expressed on activated monocytes and dendritic cells. ICOSLG is a ligand for the T-cell-specific cell surface receptor ICOS and acts as a co-stimulatory signal for T-cell proliferation and cytokine secretion. It also induces also B-cell proliferation and differentiation into plasma cells. ICOSLG may play an important role in mediating local tissue responses to inflammatory conditions, as well as in modulating the secondary immune response by co-stimulating memory T-cell function.
