Background: | C5a is the most potent anaplylatoxin (compared to C3a and C4a). It exhibits potent chemotactic activity for neutrophils (PMN), it can also cause smooth muscle contraction, increase vascular permeability, promote histamine and TNF-alpha release, and lead to lysosomal degranulation of immune cells. |
