Endoglin (CD105) is a type I membrane glycoprotein located on cell surfaces and is part of the TGF beta receptor complex. Endoglin is highly expressed on vascular endothelial cells, chondrocytes, and syncytiotrophoblasts of term placenta. It is also found on activated monocytes, mesenchymal stem cells and leukemic cells of lymphoid and myeloid lineages. It has been postulated that endoglin is involved in the cytoskeletal organization affecting cell morphology and migration. Endoglin has been regarded as a powerful angiogenic marker in endometrial carcinoma.
