Background
CD160 antigen, also known as Natural killer cell receptor BY55 and CD160, is a GPI-anchored cell membrane glycoprotein with one Ig-like V-type domain. CD160 is expressed in spleen, peripheral blood, and small intestine. Expression is restricted to functional NK and T cytotoxic lymphocytes. On a subpopulation of cytolytic T cells and NK cells, CD160 functions as a broad specificity receptor for MHC class I and related molecules. When expressed on vascular endothelial cells, CD160 propagates anti-angiogenic signals and promotes apoptosis.
