Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 10B is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. This receptor does not induce apoptosis, and has been shown to play an inhibitory role in TRAIL-induced cell apoptosis. Defect in TRAIL R2/CD262/TNFRSF10B is responsible for the loss of chromosome p arm which is frequently observed in head and neck tumors. TNFRSF10B inhibits tumor formation through apoptosis but deregulation encourages metastasis, migration and invasion of tumor cell tissues.
